CAMBRIDGE UNITED FC: THORPE NEEDS KNEE SURGERY

Jez George has revealed that defender Jonathan Thorpe will miss the start of the Blue Square Premier season after tearing the cartilage in his knee.

CAMBRIDGE UNITED: BROWN RELEASED

Simon Brown has left Cambridge United by mutual consent after failing to make an appearance so far this season.

The 35 year old has had to settle for a backup role this year with Danny Naisbitt cementing his place between the sticks for the Us.

Manager Jez George offered his best wishes to Brown, "Simon has handled himself in a professional manner throughout the season despite not being in the starting eleven and has helped the club by coming to this agreement."
