DARLINGTON FC: QUAKERS PART COMPANY WITH COOPER

Mark Cooper has left Blue Square Premier side Darlington after Chairman Raj Singh admitted that the club's promotion hopes were at risk.

The club had managed just five wins all season with a 3-1 defeat to Braintree Town on Saturday seemingly the final straw for Singh.

"Results have been nowhere near where we wanted them. Our ultimate aim this year was promotion, and we're nowhere near. Our recent results have been closer to relegation form than promotion form, which has been baffling."

Cooper joined the Quakers on a two year deal in the summer of 2010. He lead them to a 7th place finish in his first season in charge but has overseen a poor run of form this season.

A statement on the club's official website read, "Singh is quick to thank Cooper and Dryden [Richard, Assistant Manager] for bringing the club's "greatest day ever" with the FA Trophy victory back in May."
