Wealdstone fans are a helpful bunch, here three offer us their thoughts on the club's prospects ahead of the new campaign.
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
Disastrous start under estimating the step up from the Ryman Premier League – some early autumn additions steadied the ship, best signing was Jefferson Louis in Dec from Connie South Lowestoft (he actually lives quite close to The Vale, Ruislip where we play) provided the finishing touch for a solid mid-table finish.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
Time will tell once we get underway – Connor Calcutt (Striker) & Josh Hutchinson (Striker) could be quite a pairing at home – one has come of the football league the other out of the Southern League Central Division GOALS is what we want and need.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
Overall squad looks about right with cover for most positions.
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Always love a trip to the seaside (I actually live in Weston-super-Mare) and the wonderful city of Bath – Truro looks good at the end of the season, the London based fans are looking at fly down on the Friday making a weekend of it (I will be on train from W-s-M).
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
Grudgingly I have to say Bath City, good club trying to do it the right way.
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
Shaun Lucien – midfield/wide player picked up from local Darts Team (Harrow Boro) last season, still has a lot to learn about the game but can be relied upon to do the out of the ordinary stuff when no one expects it. Scott Davies – midfield general – picked up at the turn of the year when the money ran out at Dunstable T – makes the game look easy.
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
Like to think same again –mid table mediocrity and a cup run to the 1st Round, reality, heart says challenging for the play-offs, head says one place above the relegation places.
Next up Victor offered his insight.
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
After a very poor start with 4 draws and 5 losses I was more than happy that we ended up mid table.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
I was getting very worried about lack of additions to the squad until we announced 4 new signings in the last 48 hours.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
I feel we need another quality centre half to play alongside Tom Hamblin.
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I really look forward to the away games at Bath,Weston Super Mare and Truro who we play on the last day of the season as going on the supporters club 2 night trip including flying from Gatwick to Newquay which will be quite novel for a non-league trip.
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
Am expecting Ebbsfleet with an unlimited budget to go up with Havant & Waterlooville.
Players from our squad to look out for are Scott Davies and Connor Calcutt.
I think we will end up 11th.
Finally was Kev.
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
One win in the opening ten matches was the worst start possible but the realistic target was always to stay up (some supporters had other ideas after winning the Ryman so convincingly the season before). Overall, to finish 12th considering the dreadful start was not only respectable given it was the first season back at conference level.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
Not entirely no. But it's the same every year with Wealdstone. Shoe string budget, rumoured to be amongst the league's worst, so it means we have to shop frugally. Most of the additions come from a lower level but they're all young and hungry so only time will tell to see how they step up.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
Could strengthen all over the pitch. What we have won't challenge the top end of the table, I don't think, but if we want to push on from maintaining our status I would say key positions would be a top quality left winger and a number 10 behind the striker creative player.
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Opening game v Bath. And Truro away.
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
High hopes is wrong phrase. None of them. But if you're asking which team I think will do well then Id back Ebbsfleet and Whitehawk - both have more money than sense but id expect a strong challenge from both newly promoted Margate and Maidstone too.
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
None cos if we lose them we're in the brown stuff! There's two... Lucien, pacey winger, if he works hard he'll be top quality. Second one is Connor Calcutt a striker we got from Stevenage.
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
Such a hard league to call. I want to say we'll do better this season but I'm not sure we will- all the teams around us have strengthened and its a stronger, tougher league this time round. I remain to be convinced on the new signings - the pre-season games were farcical so much depends on how they bed in. If two or three of the 8 we brought in are successes then we'll finish 12th again. Otherwise 15th or 16th. But beauty of football, you ask ten stones fans and i reckon the answers would all be different so we'll see.
