HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
I am still waiting for a director to ask to make a film about it! The end of the 13/14 Season looked like it could be the last for Corby, the bills were adding up and the money was not there! After a successful takeover, most fans would have been happy with a mid-table finish with a club to still support come this season! Even half way through the season we looked nailed on for the end of season lottery in the play-offs, so to defy all the odds and come through a whole month of away games to finish the season as champions, it was unbelievable Jeff!
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
I have been very impressed with the players we have added! But being a non-league club, it is always massive to keep hold of your players, especially having just won the league! Some players left and the lure of money and full time football will always be hard to compete with, but the players who have stayed have shown a lot of faith in what Tommy Wright is trying to achieve here, and I am sure the players who have been brought in will provide the extra experience in a tough league!
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
I believe the squad we have will do a good job next season, and there is no specific area that we are looking weak in. But if a player offered his services and he was of top quality, then you wouldn't say no!
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I am looking forward to visiting some new grounds, FCUM and Stockport will be nice grounds to visit, but there are no real stand out fixtures! All of the "derby games" this season have been done a death when we were last in the national league north, so from a selfish point of view, it would have to be any away fixture where we stay over for a night out!
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
I have not paid much attention to the league for the last two years, but according to a social media site, AFC Fylde have the potential to finish 2nd and lose in the play-offs so it would be interesting to see how they do! And I think Brackley could be up there if the chairman keeps throwing his money about!
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
Greg Mills has the potential to go back into the full-time professional game, Spencer Weir-Daley is a player who has the ability to score from any situation inside the box! For me, Paul Walker is one of the best Goalkeepers I have seen in the non-league game! In all honesty, Corby has a squad full of young players with so much ability and bright futures that I could list them all on here! And with players around them, players like Cleveland Taylor, there is a mix of youth and experience that could see a lot of players go on to higher levels in football, and hopefully they do that with Corby Town!
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
I made a call last week that we will finish 4th, a bit specific but it's something I have had a feeling for since seeing the league line up! Most teams would be happy holding their own after just coming up, but I believe Corby Town have the players that will see us challenge for a play-off place, and then in the play-offs, anything can happen!
We were also able to speak with Craig ahead of the new season.
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
The 14/15 season genuinely couldn't have gone better for Corby town. After the final day drama you can't say anything else than perfect.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
Yes, I feel some of the summer signings have proven themselves already, the likes of Anton Brown and Chris Carruthers have shown that they have the quality that Corby needed to push on to the next level.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
I feel that the striker position needs strengthening and possibly a backup goalkeeper. When we struggle to score we haven't got a backup to bring off the bench that can score regular goals. Also if Walker gets injured or suspended our backup goalkeeper although he is good I don't feel he is good enough to cope with the quality in our current league.
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
The main fixtures I am looking forward to is at home against FC United of Manchester, also I'm excited about the FA Cup qualifiers then hopefully getting into the first round, which would be a great achievement for Corby town.
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
FC United of Manchester, I can't see anyone beating them to the title, although I would love Corby to win the league, I don't think it's realistic.
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
Their are a few players to look out for but the main two have to be Greg Mills and Paul Walker, these two at times can drag the club through a game to help them win. With Mills' flair and instinct at times he is untouchable. Walkers one on one shot stopping is the best around, he can spread himself to the size of the goal, you can see the fans when their is a one on one they still believe he can do something about it. Possibly though a new signing, Ashley Sammons looks like a exciting prospect after signing from Redditch United and Curtis Revan having rose through the youth ranks and scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle U 18s to come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 he may bring some depth to the squad.
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
Obviously every football fan wants their team to win the league but after just being promoted this just a dream, but when the league starts who knows. But realistically I think around mid-table would be about right.
