FAN'S VIEW: HARROGATE TOWN SEASON PREVIEW

We spoke to Jordan about his team, Harrogate Town's, prospects for the new campaign.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?

At the start of last season we were installed as second favourites based on the big name players who we brought in. We soon realised that things had not gone to plan when we were struggling in the bottom half of the league by Christmas. A lot of the big name players appears dis-interested and it was clear something had to change. In the new year, our manager brought in a host of young talent from the lower leagues. The big name players were sent out on loan and we ended the season playing some very entertaining football which was refreshing after what we saw during the first half of the season.

HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?

I have been very impressed. We seem to have improved in all areas of the pitch and also retained the talent which did so well in the second half of last season. We have a great mix of youth and experience and the mood around the Harrogate Town fans is one of optimism.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?

We have very good competition for all places and I am extremely happy with the squad which the manager has assembled. My only worry is that we may struggle with goals if our front two get injured and we are yet to bring in a second choice goalkeeper albeit our manager prefers not to have a keep n the bench.

ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?

I am looking forward to visiting Lowestoft in November as it is a ground which I have never visited and a few of us have arranged to go down for the weekend. The away trip to FCUM is one which a lot of fans are looking forward to given it is a new ground.

WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?

I think AFC Fylde will be strong again and I have a feeling that Boston could exceed a lot of people’s expectations. It is an extremely strong league this season and I would not be surprised to see about 10 team vying for the promotion and play-off places.

WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?

We have re-signed Dominic Knowles from Burton United. He did very well for us in his first spell for us and based on his pre season performances, I have no doubt that he could continue where he left off. His goals alone could mean we have a very successful season. We also have some very good young talent in Jack Emmett, Jordan Thewlis and Rob Worrell all of whom I think could play at a higher level.

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

With the squad which we have assembled, I have no doubts that we are capable of finishing within the top 5. We are very much a form team and when things are going well can quite easily go on a 6/7 match winning run however historically, when we lose a game, we would go several games without picking up a point. If this can change, I think we will do well. It is the eve of the new season, and I am optimistic, so I will go for 4th.
