There wasn't much to shout about for Millwall fans last season, her we speak to two fans of the club who will be hoping for a more positive outcome this time around. Up first, Luke.
I feel the 14/15 season for Millwall started pretty well. With Ian Holloway coming in there was excitement and a buzz around the place knowing what he had done with Crystal Palace and Blackpool. We started off well beating Leeds, Fulham and getting a draw at Sheffield Wednesday away. That's where it all went down hill, the results were not coming and the tactics and formations that Ian Holloway used were ridiculous. He had 4 or 5 strikers on the pitch at the same time. He then called our best player at the time Magaye Gueye fat and dropped him and then went and signed Gary Taylor Fletcher. So overall the season was a complete disaster until Neil Harris become manager and we got good results near the end of the season.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
Yes and No, the signing I am most happy about is bringing back striker Steve Morrison from Leeds. He had the experience of playing in the Premier League and at International level. We have also strengthened at the back signing Tony Craig from Brentford and Left back Joe Martin from Gillingham. We are aloe linked with Left Midfielder Shane Ferguson from Newcastle.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
I still think we could strengthen out on the flanks and up front. I think if we could get one more striker in maybe a loan or a permanent signing. We really need a target man. And like I said we are linked with left midfielder Shane Ferguson from Newcastle.
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
There's not many local derby's for us in the league this year but I am looking forward to Southend and Gillingham away as hey are the closet and there will be a little bit of rivalry. The team I have high hopes for is Sheffield United, after last years play off loss they have strengthened the squad bringing in experienced striker Billy Sharp and signing Martyn Woolford from Millwall. One player that will shine for them this season is Che Adams he has scored a lot of goals in pre season already.
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
One player I think you should look out for is Ed Upson, the attacking midfielder knows how to play a pass and has an eye for goal and will score a few goals for us this season. Also Lee Gregory one of our strikers after signing him from Non-League team Halifax he scored 9 goals in his first season in professional football. His movement on and off the ball is incredible and can be a real pain for defenders. And the last player I think will shine this season is young winger Fred Onyedinma he was on loan at Wycombe last season and was a crucial part of their season and helped them get to the play off final.
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
I'm hoping for a top 10 finish at least. With the amount of young players in our squad I would be happy with that, maybe going for a play off push at least.
And finally Anthony gave us his thoughts.
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?
14/15 campaign was hugely disappointing. With our largest wage budget to date, relegation should not have been an issue but instead we dropped down to League 1.
HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?
Bringing back John Marquis is a testament to manager Neil Harris and the trust John has in him to develop him as a striker.
ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?
We are still in need of a central defender, as we are razor thin.
ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Most of our fixtures involve northern teams so not much in terms of derbies so the opener against Shrewsbury would have to be my pick of the lot.
WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?
Fleetwood Town have come through the lower leagues and continue to push upward, I expect them to be a solid outfit this campaign.
WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?
The two players to look forward to for us are Fred Onyedinma and Mark Beevers. Fred is set to get his first meaningful minutes for the club after a good loan spell with Wycombe last year and Mark should flourish at this level, after proving to be a quality Championship defender.
WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?
As of right now, the squad is too young to make a play-off push in my opinion but anything less than top half will be disappointing in my opinion.
