FAN'S VIEW: AFC TELFORD UNITED SEASON PREVIEW

AFC Telford United experienced relegation again last term, fan Callum gave us his hopes for the upcoming campaign.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?

The 14/15 season for Telford couldn't have gone much worse if they had tried to be honest! The disastrous pre-season already had alarm bells going and peoples fears were comfirmed when the season began. It took 12 games for us to get our first win and by that point, it was clear that this squad wasn't going to be good enough to survive in an ever increasingly tough conference premier. The style of football wasn't popular with fans under the previous manager. Long ball football is bearable when winning but when losing it can test fans patience. However, our cup run was pleasing and gave the fans a memorable moment against Bristol City in the second round. When Steve Kittrick was appointed, things became a bit more positive with a few players dropped and some incoming signings. Although with some very pleasing performances on display, it was too little too late as we were resigned to being relegated for the second time in three seasons

HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?

I have being impressed with numerous signings during the summer. Resigning James Montgomery after he became out of contract was a brilliant signing as he certainly has the potential to become a football league player in the near future. Also the signings of Danny Glover and Dave Hibbert up front provide us with experience in an important part of the field, both having football league appearances to their name. There has being an emphasis on signing young players which allows us to build for the future. A few fans have being critical on Steve Kittrick signing a lot of midfielders, however it is important to observe that many of these players are versatile and can also play in other positions.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?

I feel we could still do with another defender due to the departure of Mat Bailey on Friday, which leaves us with only four out and out defenders. However, I feel we have enough additions in other areas who can play in defence should nothing come of it.

ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?

As usual I am looking forward to the Christmas fixture, this year against Hednesford. These games always provide a great atmosphere for the fans to enjoy! This year, the fixture versus FC United of Manchester is a highly anticipated game due to the nature of us both being successful fans owned clubs.

WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?

I feel Stockport could do well this year. Neil Young is a really good manager and has signed some good players in pre-season. If they don't get play-offs minimum this seasons, they will have underachieved.

WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?

James Montgomery : A young goalkeeper, grandson of Jim Montgomery, has massive potential and is very good on the ball and at commanding his area .  Mark Lees: Stockport fans were aggrieved to see him go and is a coup for us with him captaining them at this level. Izak Reid: An exciting winger who likes to run at the opposition and put them under pressure. Dave Hibbert: Strong in the air and can score some impressive goals!

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

This season, I will be happy with play-offs and feel that, with all the new players and style of play, this will be possible. 5th.
