FAN'S VIEW: EAST THURROCK UNITED SEASON PREVIEW

We picked the brain of a couple of East Thurrock fans ahead of the new campaign, first up, Jono.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?

I feel that last season was a good solid season for the rocks. With a couple of months of the season left we gave ourselves a genuine chance of reaching the play-offs, unfortunately that wasn't to be. But we did enjoy a great cup run which went all the way to the first round of the FA cup and playing away to football league side Hartlepool which was a great day out for everyone and the result didn't effect the day too much!

HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?

I have been very impressed with the signings that have been made we lost one left back and we have replaced him with 2 new players in that position the same goes for a centre back and a goal keeper. And former rocks player Kris Newby has returned which is good to see.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?

The squad looks very strong for now I believe no more strength is really needed.. We will see, I'm sure by about Christmas time there may be some areas that need to be re-jigged.

ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?

As always I'm looking forward to the local derbies, teams such as Billericay Town, Grays Athletic and Canvey Island, I am also looking forward to our FA cup qualifying again this year and hope we can reach the first round again.

WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?

As always I think Dulwich and Hamlet and Billericay will be there or there abouts when it comes to the end of the season, I also believe Canvey Island may have a better year than everybody expects them too, they have made some big signings.

WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?

As everybody already knows our main player to look out for is our goalscorer Sam Higgins, who was top goalscorer in all of non-league football last year, but as well as the very front you should be looking at the very back of the team and at the rocks new goalkeeper who has captained Lithuania at U21 level. Lukas Lidakevicius definitely one to watch.

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

I have high hopes for the rocks this season as this the strongest I have ever season an East Thurrock team at the start of a season. Also after a good pre-season I think we have a great chance of play-offs this year. And stranger things have happened in football, we could even push for automatic promotion!
