After the news this week that they had accepted a bid for his services from Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers have today offered striker Billy Sharp a new contract.
In an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield following their defeat to Notts County at the weekend, manager Dean Saunders revealed the club had agreed a few with the Foxes and that Sharp was due for talks with Nigel Pearson's men.
In a post on Rovers' official Twitter page today news of the contract offer filtered through, "We are going to offer Billy Sharp a new contract which will be the best the club have ever offered."
The 25 year old has been Doncaster's main goal threat this season, notching ten in just eighteen appearances, he has scored fifteen in each of his previous two seasons with the South Yorkshire club.
It remains to be seen whether Sharp will a Rover come the end of January.
