Peterborough striker Lee Tomlin has taken to the club's official website to issue an apology to supporters for his actions in their clash with Leeds United at the weekend.
The 22 year old saw red after just half an hour in the match leaving his team mates to see out a 3-2 loss. Posh manager Darren Ferguson expressed his frustration at the dismissal following the game.
"Lee will be disciplined because I do not want my players tackling like that, that's not the way we play football, but I won't be hanging him out to dry and nor should anyone else. Obviously I wasn't happy with him and I made my feelings known to him. It was a bad tackle and the red card made a difficult game even more difficult."
Tomlin's statement read, "I apologised to my team mates following the final whistle on Saturday and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the supporters, management and board for the tackle that led to my dismissal on Saturday against Leeds United."
"The supporters have been first class since I arrived at the club and were fantastic on Saturday. I will work hard in training while I am unavailable for selection and do everything I can to try and get back into the starting lineup when I am free from suspension."
The striker will be available again for Peterborough in their fixture with Birmingham City on November 19th.
