Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has revealed he missed out on bringing Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey to the club on loan.
The 19 year old eventually moved to Blackpool and made a goalscoring debut for the Seasiders against Bristol City last week.
Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk Jewell said, "We tried to get Shelvey here on Friday, but Blackpool could guarantee him starts."
Jewell has conceded that he needs to add more players to the squad and is on the look out for more temporary signings despite already having five loanees on the books.
"We're looking for other players, we can only have five loan players on a team sheet, so we can't bring loads in. At this moment, we want to improve the squad, but anybody who comes in will have to be patient."
