Alan Knill has moved quickly to find cover for the injured Josh Lillis after agreeing a deal to bring Manchester United's Sam Johnstone on loan for a month.
The 18 year old expressed his delight at securing a short term move to Scunthorpe, "I am excited and happy to be here, it's going to be a good experience for me and I can't wait to get going."
Johnstone has represented England at Under 16 level but has yet to feature in a competitive league game. He hopes he can gain a wealth of experience playing consistently.
"It's a good amount of time for me to get games and get in the swing of things and become comfortable with people so hopefully I can impress. Hopefully I will get quite a lot of games and gain experience."
Lillis, Scunthorpe United's first choice goalkeeper, has been ruled out of action for three months because of a knee injury.
