NEWPORT COUNTY: HUDSON CONTRACT TERMINATED

Newport County manager Anthony Hudson has had his contract terminated.

A statement issued by the club said, "As a result of discussions between Newport County chairman Chris Blight and Anthony Hudson, the club wishes to announce that Hudson will no longer continued in the role as manager."

It is understood that assistant boss Lee Harrison and defender Wayne Hatswell will take temporary charge of the club while the search for a new manager takes place.

Chairman Chris Blight revealed he had received a number of applications for the vacant post, "We are already receiving applications into us. People have contacted to say if anything happens please bear us in mind."

"We had 55 applications for the position when it was advertised when Anthony was the successful applicant. So I feel pretty confident that we will be contacted by many."

The Exiles are currently second bottom of the Blue Square Premier, recording just one win all season.
