DUNDEE UNITED FC: THOMPSON 'DISGUSTED' AT FINE

Dundee United's chairman Stephen Thompson has expressed his disgust at the club being fined almost £5,000 due to a fan walking onto the field of play in their game against Slask Wroclaw in July.

Speaking after news of the fine came through from UEFA, Thompson said, "It's ridiculous, UEFA always come down hard on British clubs and treat us like second class citizens. I'm disgusted by the whole thing. The fan walked onto the park to pick something up and went straight back off again."

In contrast to the fine dished out to the Scottish Premier League side, fans of Slask Wroclaw were ordered to pay just £400 after a 'violent rampage' through the streets of Dundee before the match on July 21st this year.

A police satement released shortly after the disturbances read, "Bottles were being thrown by some of the Polish fans and there was some damage to property but serious disorder was prevented by police officers responding quickly and in numbers whenever violence flared. To their credit Dundee United fans did not get involved in the trouble."

The game between Dundee United and the Polish club ended 3-3 on aggregate, a result that saw Slask Wroclaw progress to the third round of the Europa League.
