DORCHESTER TOWN: BOWLES TOLD TO WISE UP

Dorchester Town manager Ashley Vickers has issued a warning to defender Gary Bowles after the 22 year old received his fourth red card in a year at the weekend.

Bowles was dismissed in the first half of the Magpies clash with Basingstoke at the weekend, an incident that adds to his already questionable disciplinary record.

"It was a needless sending off. The ball was on the other side of the stand and you just can't react to any comment. Their guy has gone down like he's been shot and referees at this level want to make a statement. You can't give them the opportunity to do that." Vickers said.

The young centre back signed for AFC Bournemouth in the transfer window but was loaned back out to Dorchester for the remainder of the season. Vickers says his comments are not an attempt to chastise Bowles but to steer him away from a career beset by suspensions.

"He has a massive opportunity at Bournemouth and he needs to give himself the best opportunity of fulfilling his potential. I'm not hanging him out to dry, it's something he needs to take on board and I'm sure he will."
