MCGREGOR'S LIFT FOR CITY HOME START
WORCESTER City hope to involve Marc McGregor in a coaching capacity after the striker finally re-signed for the club.
McGregor was in talks with the St George’s Lane outfit over a new deal and now looks set for a dual role.
Although he will still be registered as a player, manager Carl Heeley believes the 33-year-old’s experience can rub off on the likes of fellow forwards Mike Symons, Luke Corbett and Danny Carey-Bertram. The City boss said: “Marc still wants to play but we feel he’s got plenty of experience and a lot to give to the forwards. He can help nurture them so we’re going to try and get him involved a little bit on the coaching side.”
Corbett could start in City’s first Blue Square Bet North home game of the season against Vauxhall Motors at the Lane tonight (7.45) after coming on as a second-half sub in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Hyde.
However, injured midfielders Emeka Nwadike (hamstring) and Simon Brown (thigh) are out, while centre-half Jacob Rowe still awaits international clearance.
Like City, the Motormen are looking to bounce back after losing 2-0 at home to Gloucester.
Heeley added: “As much as we are disappointed, we cannot get despondent. We have a quick opportunity to get the points tally rolling.”
