Gainsborough Trinity travel to Leicestershire this evening to face Hinckley United in the second game of the new Blue Square North season. Goals from Gavin Cowan [2] and Darryn Stamp helped Gainsborough to an opening day win at the expense of Solihull Moors. Trinity game back from a goal down at half time to win the fixture 3–1 and will be hoping to replicate that performance in tonights match.
Hinckley however suffered a 3–0 reverse in their opening game of the season away at Guiseley.
GAINSBOROUGH TRINITY AIMING TO BUILD AFTER FIRST DAY JOY
BRIAN LITTLE warned his players not to take Hinckley lightly when Gainsborough travel there tonight (7.45pm).
The Blues got off to a flying start with a 3-1 home victory against Solihull Moors on Saturday while the Leicestershire side were thumped 3-0 at Guiseley.
However, Little believes Guiseley are one of the best footballing teams in Blue Square Bet North and predicted Hinckley are better than the scoreline suggested.
"I think a lot of teams will go to Guiseley this season and lose 3-0," said Little.
"For me they are one of the best sides in the division and it is a game I would not have wanted on the opening day.
"I don't think that result will make our game at Hinckley any easier and they will want to get Saturday's game out of their systems. It is a bonus for them that they can play again so soon."
Trinity put in an impressive second-half show to defeat the Moors, defender Gavin Cowan scoring twice and Darryn Stamp also on target to cancel out Junior English's opener.
"We have worked a lot on delivery and set-pieces and with Gavin, Andrew Boyce and Darryn Stamp's height, we should score a few goals in those situations.
Stamp is likely to sit out tonight's game with a slight knock and could be replaced by Daryl Clare."
