FAN'S VIEW: SCUNTHORPE UNITED SEASON PREVIEW

Christian shared his thoughts on the upcoming season from a Scunthorpe United perspective.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?

The 2014/15 season didn't really go too well for us. We had loads of injuries to deal with and a really poor start to the season under Russ Wilcox. Dave Syers getting injured in the first game of the season and missing most of the season didn't help. Mark Robins brought in some decent loans and we managed to just survive, but I would have liked to have finished higher and been safe sooner.

HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?

All of the signings have impressed me this summer. How we pulled some of them out like Scott Laird I have no idea because he was guaranteed to be a first choice championship defender. We've strengthened in all areas and are looking really strong for the season. Charlie Goode has really impressed me to say he's only just turned 20 and was playing none league he looked like he's been playing league football his whole career against Wednesday.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?

Not really. I think we have enough depth in the squad across every position and the players will all be pushing for a start.

ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Doncaster Rovers away on boxing day because it's Christmas and it's a local derby and Millwall away because I haven't been since 2009.

WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?

Sheffield United. They've got an amazing manager in Nigel Adkins who's been here and done it before in League One with us and he's signed Billy Sharp and Martyn Woodford who both know the division. They are who I think will win the league.

WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?

Scott Laird, Jack King and Charlie Goode. Laird and King are experienced and have been promoted with Preston North End so they know the league and how to get out of it. Charlie Goode has been amazing all pre-season and to say he was playing non-league last season he had the Sheffield Wednesday attack in his back pocket all game. He's got a very bright future ahead of him.

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

I think we'll get a play-off place. Maybe 4th or 5th. On paper we have the squad to get automatic promotion, but we know from last season that it's not an easy league to be in. Even 6th I'd be happy with.
