The 30 year old goalkeeper signed a short term deal with the League One club in November and revealed his delight at securing a long term deal.
"I'm delighted to sign the deal and I think it's a good Christmas present for me and for the club aswell. I've enjoyed playing here over the last one and a half months and now I'm looking forward to the next few games and to the next season."
Thorsten has made seven appearances for Preston since signing for the club following his release by German side Alemannia Aachen.
