Aidy Boothroyd has wasted no time in making his mark at Northampton Town.
Chris Arthur and Ashley Westwood were both informed by the newly appointed Cobblers boss this week that their futures lie elsewhere, a decision that Boothroyd says was fair.
"The two lads were not going to feature in the first team in the next few weeks, so I thought it was better to tell them now, they can spend Christmas with their families, and they are free agents for the January transfer window."
Defender Westwood re-signed for Northampton in the summer and had made seventeen apperances in the League this season. Chris Arthur, a left sided midfielder, joined the Cobblers in September on a short term contract until the new year, he managed eight appearances for the first team.
