Port Vale defender John McCombe says it has been difficult for him to watch from the stands in recent weeks as he fell out of favour with manager Micky Adams.
McCombe was left out after his Vale side conceded sixteen goals in nine matches. The 26 year old returned to the starting line-up on Friday evening as Vale came out victorious in their game with Northampton.
"It was great to be back and to get a goal. I was disappointed to be out of the team. It's hard watching the lads playing while you're on the sidelines but I got the chance I thought I did well and hopefully I can stay in the team."
Vale scored three goals with no reply in Friday's game doing McCombe's cause no harm at all.
