Lincoln City chairman Bob Dorrian says any incoming manager will only be given a deal until the end of the current season.
Speaking to BBC Lincolnshire Dorrian said the short term deal would give both parties a chance to re-evaluate the situation later in the season, "We won't be offering a contract past the end of this season and there's not a lot of money on offer either."
"We need someone who's prepared to come in, work hard and make a name for themselves on a small amount of money."
The Blue Square Premier side are searching for a new boss following the sacking of Steve Tilson this week. Names currently in the frame include Mick Harford and Ronnie Moore, but Boston United duo Lee Canoville and Jason Lee have distanced themselves from the vacant position.
"Jason and I haven't really looked at that as a possibility. We have enough work to be getting on with here at Boston United. We have only been here a little while. We want to take this club places and we are happy where we are," Canoville said in an interview with the Lincolnshire Echo.
