FLEETWOOD TOWN: ATKINSON ANKLE BREAK CONFIRMED

Fleetwood Town have revealed that defender Rob Atkinson has suffered a broken ankle and will be out of action for a long spell.

The 24 year old's prognosis wasn't initially as serious but manager Micky Mellon has now confirmed the bad news, "We thought the injury was ankle ligaments at first, but X rays have shown that it is a fracture and we are talking about months for him."

Atkinson joins a long list of injury concerns at the Highbury Stadium, an unlucky spell that has forced Mellon to plug the gaps with loan signings from club's higher up the leagues.

Charlie Wassmer and Glenn Wilson have linked up with the Trawlermen on short term deals from Crawley Town and the Fleetwood boss was grateful to Steve Evans for sanctioning their moves.
