DONCASTER ROVERS: KIRKLAND MOVES TO KEEPMOAT

Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the loan signing of former England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

The 30 year old, currently with Wigan Athletic, joins on a deal until January and is expected to make his debut for the club tomorrow night in the clash with Leeds United.

Speaking to the club's official website Kirkland expained why he had chosen to leave the Premier League for a club at the wrong end of the Championship.

"As soon as I heard about the interest, I wanted to come. I need to get back playing and hopefully if I do well I can do that here. It's a tough league, it's the same as the Premier League, nobody has got the given right to beat anybody. There are a lot of tough teams, so we're going to have to work hard as individuals and as a squad."

Wigan will be helping with Kirkland's wages during his spell at the Keepmoat.
