The Burnley defender, currently on loan with Preston North End, was stopped by police in July and found to be twice over the limit after an evening of drinking at a casino.
In court Carlisle, once named 'Britain's Brainiest Footballer', said, "It was a gross error of judgment and one that I will never make again. People should be aware that just because you feel fine the next morning it doesn't mean you're safe to drive."
