SWINDON TOWN FC: CLARKE HITS BACK AT DI CANIO

Chesterfield's new signing Leon Clarke has hit back at remarks from Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio that he is unprofessional.

Following a very public disagreement between the two men, Swindon Town issued a statement saying Clarke would never again wear the Robins' jersey.

The striker has today released his own statement apologising to fans for the outburst that prompted his swift departure from the Wiltshire club and hitting back at the comments made by the Swindon boss.

"The incident on the 30 August 2011 between myself, the fitness coach and the manager was unfortunate and should have been avoided at all costs. However I believe the subsequent comments made by Mr Di Canio are not a true reflection of what occured. The personal comments made by Mr Di Canio about myself are denied."

Clarke wants to put the incident behind him, and a goal on his debut for Chesterfield tomorrow will go a long way in doing that.
