PRESTON NE: DIOUF AT DEEPDALE

Phil Brown has invited former Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool attacker El Hadji Diouf to train with his Preston North End side.

Diouf, who previously worked with Brown at Bolton Wanderers, is on the look out for a new side after terminating his contract with Blackburn early.

"Diouf is a good friend of mine and he's keeping himself fit here," Brown said in an interview with a local newspaper.

"Blackburn paid his contract up last week and now he's a free agent. I should think that, as a free agent he'll be a very valuable asset for someone."

The controversial figure is not looking to earn himself a contract with Brown's side though. The former Hull boss added, "What people must realise is that Diouf is not here because we're signing him."

30 year old Diouf lists Sunderland, Lens, Souchaux and Rennes amongst his former clubs.
