Although it isn't known which player in particular caught the eye of Pearce, MacAnthony claims it was definitely a Posh player, claims which have prompted defender Ryan Bennett to comment.
"As a player I don't pay any interest to speculation so the fact Stuart Pearce was in the stands doesn't matter to me, in fact I didn't even know he was there until when someone said after the game. It would be a big surprise to me if he was there watching me, the England Under 21 squad is full of talent and any interest in me would be a complete shock."
Posh goalkeeper Joe Lewis has featured for the Under 21 squad in the past.
