Mansfield Town are in the process of extending the loan deal of defender Ben Futcher from League One side Bury.
The centre back has been a rock at the heart of the Stags' defence all season but his initial one month loan deal will expire on September 17th, something Mansfield boss Paul Cox is determined doesn't happen.
"When you are looking to get consistency, you are looking to tie down good players. Futch has been a monster at the back and also had a great effect on the dressing room." Cox said.
It is understood Mansfield are looking into the possibility of making a permanent move for Futcher as his current loan deal can now only be extended for a further 93 days, "We need to check out how it would work if we did take up that 93 day loan, to see whether we could sign him right the way through, with a permanent deal following in January."
Futcher has played in five league games for the Stags this term.
