Steve Tilson has revealed that his Lincoln City side are struggling to compete financially with other clubs as he seeks to sign cover for injured defender Tony Sinclair.
The Lincolnshire Echo names Ben Purkiss as the player Tilson was hoping to acquire, he later extended his loan deal with fellow Blue Square Premier side Darlington.
Speaking to the newspaper Tilson expressed his frustration, "I've tried to sign a right back, but another Conference club has paid more money than us, that's what I am up against. We are desperate for cover in that position and there I am thinking I have it all lined up, but obviously it has not happened."
"The player was due to join us for training, but I received a phone call to say another club were paying more than us and that they were going to take him. I have to say I'm not pleased about it because I thought the deal was done so you can imagine my disappointment," he continued.
