The 35 year old has signed in time to feature for the Pitmen in their game against Matlock Town this evening and boss Rob Smith thinks the experienced forward can offer a lot to his side.
"I have worked with Gary in the past and rate him highly as a striker, he is excellent at holding the ball up and looking for support and can be a good outlet under defensive pressure."
Hay has previously turned out for Bromsgrove Rovers, AFC Telford and Alvechurch.
