The Derby County heirachy are interested in extending the contract of manager Nigel Clough.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2011/12 season chief executive Tom Glick states the club are not prepared to wait for that to run out, "We are all aware his contract is up at the end of the season and we have no intention of leaving it to next summer."
Clough took the reigns at Derby County in 2009 after the departure of Paul Jewell and lead the Rams to a 14th place finish, they struggled last term however ending the season in 19th.
Derby have begun the new season in fine form, they currently sit in third place in the Championship and have suffered only one league defeat all season.
