Former Celtic striker Frank McGarvey has urged Neil Lennon to drop Georgios Samaras.
The Greek international has scored 28 goals in 88 appearances for the Bhoys and McGarvey doesn't believe that is a good enough return for a first choice striker.
"Scoring every 13 league games isn't good enough for any club in the world, never mind Celtic. It's disgraceful. That isn't a good enough record for a midfielder player, never mind a striker."
Ahead of Celtic's game with Ross County tomorrow McGarvey says Samaras must be dropped for the sake of the team.
"This is a game for players who will roll up their sleeves and get stuck in and Samaras isn't one of those guys, he's in a comfort zone at Parkhead. For Neil's own sake and for the sake of the club he has to drop Samaras. Managers sometimes have a blind spot with certain players and that must be the case here, but by continually selecting a plaer who doesn't score the manager is only putting unnecessary pressure on himself and the team."
Despite calling on the manager to relegate the former Manchester City striker to the bench, McGarvey's comments on Samaras were not all bad.
"Perhaps the most annoying thing about him is that he has good skills. He's strong and he's quick and he's not bad in the air so there's no reason why he shouldn't be scoring a lot more than he does."
