Cambridge United midfielder Jordan Patrick has been found guilty of racially abusing a tax driver.
The 20 year old was convicted of punching Gentjan Hakrama in the face before directing racial abuse at him, Patrick then turned his attentions to an off duty police officer, PC Linas Pekarskas, who was threatened by the U's man as he tried to intervene.
Speaking in court the midfielder said, "I accept I behaved very badly that night and used abusive language to both the taxi driver and police officer. I regret what happened that night, I obviously had too much to drink."
Following the judgement the presiding magistrate ordered Patrick to pay £1,265 in compensation and costs.
A statement is expected shortly from Cambridge United discussing the future of the player at the club.
