The 20 year old is understood to be on the verge of signing with Bishop's Stortford on a dual registration deal, in an attempt to get more first team action.
Cambridge boss Gary Roberts said, "It hasn't worked out for Dubi and rather than him spending a lot of time on the bench it was thought best for him to find another club so he can get regular first team football."
Ogbonna started his career with Histon before moving onto Cambridge United, Southend and King's Lynn.
