Challinor's former clubs include Rushden & Diamonds, Mansfield Town and Exeter and York City boss Gary Mills knows that experience will serve the club well, "He knows what the league's all about and it's an opportunity for him to play at a fantastic club."
Mills also revealed he had looked at bringing Challinor to the club previously, "Me and Darron [Assistant manager] have talked about him for a while and thought about bringing him in at the start."
The 30 year old is expected to make his debut for City in this evening's game against Fleetwood.
