Southport manager Liam Watson has spoken out in support of new signing, Steve Akrigg.
Discussing the season opener at Lincoln, in which Akrigg suffered a dislocated shoulder, Watson said, "Steve will not come across a more physical centre forward pairing than Perry and Smith at Lincoln City. Both roughed him up on Saturday but he came through it with a dislocated shoulder and then played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night and was part of the back four which kept a clean sheet."
Southport travel to Luton this weekend and will be hoping for a similar performance from Akrigg.
24 year old Akrigg signed for Southport in the summer on a two year deal after spending four years with Skelmersdale United.
