21 year old Waghorn has struggled to hold down a first team place at the Walkers Stadium and since his £3 million move to the club last year he has started only 11 league games, scoring four goals.
Eriksson knows the young striker needs to look elsewhere to further his career, "He needs to play football, if not his career will go backwards not forwards. He wanted to leave three or four weeks ago and then we said no. But, for his own sake, he needs to play. I know he is frustrated, he is young and he wants to play."
