Forest Green Rovers defender, Scott Bartlett has made the difficult decision to retire from professional football.
The 32 year old sustained a dislocated knee cap some time ago, an injury he was never able to fully recover from. Bartlett said, "Unfortunately for me the injury proved too serious and is something that will not enable me to compete competitively anymore without having serious repercussions later in life."
"I had a point to prove this season so there is a regret there but this injury could have happened to me when I was 21 so I am very grateful and proud of the career I have had. I have been fortunate enough to play for some fantastic clubs and with some brilliant players," he added.
Scott only signed for Forest Green during the summer but had enjoyed spells at Salisbury City, Bath and Cirencester.
