ABERYSTWYTH TOWN: DAVE 'SWANS' IN AT 'TOWN

Aberystwyth Town football club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Dave Swanick.

Swanick left Newtown midway through last season to join Welshpool Town, after only making nine appearances for the Robins since joining the club last summer.

Swanick joined Newtown last August, and has previosuly played for Bangor City in the Welsh Premier League. He was a member of the team that defeated Aberystwyth in the Welsh Cup final back in 2009, and has also represented the Citizens in Europe.

He first appeared on the Welsh footballing scene back in 2006 after he signed for Connah's Quay Nomads. He made 26 (+1) appearances for the Deesiders and scored one goal. He made his Welsh Premier and Nomads debut against Newtown in the season's opener in 2006/07, and ironically, he made his Bangor debut also against Newtown in the season's opener in 2007/08 at Latham Park.

He has previously played with English Unibond side Woodley Sports and has also played for Morecambe and Altrincham.

The club are also pleased to announce that stalwart Aneurin Thomas has agreed to stay at Park Avenue for the forthcoming season.

Thomas, who is now into his seventeenth season at Park Avenue, has also turned out for Llanidloes, Llansanffraid, Newtown and Carmarthen. Known as Freddy, the experienced head has amassed more than 430 Welsh Premier League appearances, and has also represented the Welsh Semi-Pro side.
