INTERVIEW: JOSH SIMPSON [CRAWLEY TOWN]

Josh Simpson, midfielder with League One side Crawley Town spoke to us briefly this summer, prior to the start of the 2014/15 campaign. Here's what he had to say.

How do you feel last season went for the club?
It was frustrating. We went nearly two months without a game in January and February and lost momentum as a result. The backlog of games at the end of the season caught up with us a bit and I don’t think 13th reflected how well we did. On our day we could beat anyone in League One, as we proved against Wolves.
What were some of the highs and lows of the 2013/14 campaign for you personally?
That Wolves game I mentioned was probably the biggest high of the season and we also took points off some of the other top sides including Rotherham and Sheffield United. Personally, I had an ankle injury which kept me out for a few weeks but overall I was happy with my contribution to the team.
How has pre-season gone for you on a personal level so far?
Well, it has been all change. There are only five players left from last season’s squad and fourteen new faces plus a couple of loan signings so it’s been a case of getting to know each other and how we play. Pre-season is always tough but at Crawley we do a really good mix of activities to keep us ticking over and building towards the first League One game. We have done well in the friendlies and we’re working hard towards August 9.
We're quickly approaching the 2014/15 kick-off, what are you looking forward to most this season?

It’s a new era for the club with a much-changed squad so it will be interesting to see how things settle down. League One will be very competitive again this season but I’m looking forward to the challenge.
