The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has inked a deal that will run until the end of the 2014 season.
"I'm very happy, delighted. I love being at the club and I've enjoyed every minute of it since I arrived two years ago, and I'm very thankful that the club has offered me a new contract. It's a great club to be at and the ambition that the club has got is there for everyone to see."
The 28 year old signed for the Saints for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2009.
