The 29 year old went straight into the Hawks' squad at the weekend and helped his new colleagues to a 2-2 draw with Sutton United.
Barrett was released by York City in the summer, a side he made over sixty appearances for in two seasons. He had spent time on trial with Luton Town and Kingstonian ahead of the start of the new season but the Hawks have swooped in to sign the experienced midfielder.
