The 26 year old, who is comfortable either at right back or in the middle of the park, has yet to appear for the Robins this season despite featuring on a regular basis last term.
He has been at Cheltenham since he graduated through the youth ranks in 2004.
Bath manager Adie Britton had been tracking him for a while, "I've been following him for some time, and assistant manager Lee Howells knows him well from his Cheltenham days. We're lucky he is available now with injuries and suspensions kicking in."
Gallinagh has signed in time to feature for City in their clash with Kettering tomorrow.
