FAN'S VIEW: NORTH FERRIBY UNITED SEASON PREVIEW

After a pretty epic 2014/15 campaign we chatted with North Ferriby United fan Sam about his club's prospects for the new season.

HOW DID YOU FEEL THE 14/15 SEASON WENT FOR YOUR TEAM?

2014/2015 was simply unforgettable for North Ferriby United. To win the FA Trophy at Wembley against the once mighty Wrexham was a wonderful achievement that was beyond the wildest dreams of every Ferriby fan. The whole cup run was a roller-coaster of emotion and it ended in the final at Wembley when we somehow came from 2-0 down to win. The league season was nothing to write home about but the FA trophy win more than made up for it!

HAVE YOU BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THE ADDITIONS MADE DURING THE SUMMER BREAK?

In general the new signings have looked impressive in pre season. Nathan Hotte is good addition to the midfield to play alongside Liam King. Ash Palmer looks like a great signing at centre back. He has barely put a foot wrong in pre season and Buxton fans were sad to see him go. Our other additions are mainly trialists and off those Ben Middleton and Jamie Forrester have impressed me.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS YOU FEEL STILL NEED STRENGTHENING?

I think we could do with another striker in the squad. Tom Denton and Ryan Kendall will both score goals but if either gets injured I think there will be too much pressure on the other to score enough goals to win us games.

ARE THERE ANY FIXTURES THAT YOU'RE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Our games against Gainsborough and Boston are always good games and hostile affairs which adds to the atmosphere. Looking forward to FCUM away for a chance to visit their new ground Broadhurst Park and Hednesford away is always a good game as well because of the friendly rivalry that exists between us and them which stems from the year we pipped them to the Northern Premier League title.

WHICH OPPOSITION TEAM DO YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS SEASON?

I think our local rivals Gainsborough can have high hopes this season with the addition of Nathan Jarman and Matty Wilson from Ferriby as well as Marc Newsham. I also fancy Tamworth to be fighting for promotion and FCUM to sneak into the play-offs.

WHICH PLAYERS AMONG YOUR SQUAD SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR THIS TERM?

Curtis Bateson and Danny Emerton are two exciting players for Ferriby. Emerton looked fantastic at the start of last season on the right wing but then he got a serious injury which ruled him out of almost the entire season. He is now back to fitness and hopefully he can rediscover his form. Bateson plays on the other wing and has been the stand-out player of pre season. He was hampered by being cup tied last season which didn't allow him a proper run in the side but when he’s playing well he scares defenders with his pace and looks like a great attacking option for us

WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'LL END UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

If we can keep the relatively small squad fit I think we can push for the play-offs but may end up just missing out because it looks to be a very tough league this year. Our defence looks solid and our central midfield is second to none in this league in my opinion so if our attacking players can gel we could be a dangerous side.
