The 40 year old former Southampton and Fulham goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance for the Championship side this season but manager Simon Grayson was keen to retain his services.
"Maik has got good experience to be in and around the squad and if anything happens to Andy Lonergan, Maik can step in."
Taylor signed for Leeds in November following his release by Birmingham City.
