Hearts have denied that a threat from the Scottish Premier League was the reason behind their paying of overdue wages to players today.
A statement from the club claimed the situation was merely 'coincidental' and was infact a 'result of successful business conducted by the club'.
The SPL threatened the club this week after it was revealed that the playing staff had not received their wages for December.
Chief Executive at the SPL, Neil Doncaster, said of the Premier League's ultimatum, "Today's decision reflects full the seriousness with which we regard the late payment of players' salaries."
