The pair agreed deals with the Blue Square South side in the summer but have not managed to break into the first team of late.
Pennyfather explained the decision to allow them to leave, "We're currently on good form and the players with the shirts at the moment have all taken their opportunities."
"They're both talented lads who want to play football and we wish them every success, as they deserve it."
Benjamin made twenty appearances for Chelmsford this season, Brown played thirteen times.
