The injury sustained by Preston North End striker Neil Mellor last weekend may not be as bad as initially thought.
Speaking to the club's official website, player/caretaker boss Graham Alexander revealed that Mellor is facing twelve weeks on the sidelines and not the remainder of the season as first feared.
"When he first did it against MK Dons we were given a worst case scenario and a best case scenario, luckily it's slanted more towards the best case scenario. It is still a massive blow to the club because Mells is a fantastic player and all the lads respect him around the changing rooms."
Mellor has been in fine form for the Lilywhites this season, scoring eight goals in sixteen league appearances.
