Despite only being in the position for nine months Deakin is understood to have made the decision to leave following Blue Sky International's failed investment package.
A statement on Vale's official website read, "Mr Deakin is currently working his notice period and will remain at the club for the foreseeable future. The club will not be commenting on board positions at present."
